1.1 OVERVIEW : Released - 8th January 2009 : KEY THEME - THE GREAT LEAP FORWARD

HEADLINE CHANGES

1.1 is the latest update for Football Manager Live. You can enjoy a real treat from 1.1, as it is packed full of enhancements and features. Almost all areas of the game have also been polished or expanded, and changes fall into a range of categories:

  • Firstly, the update ties up many of the themes of earlier changes to the game, which focussed on Gameworld controls. The financial system and the transfer market have both been finessed so as to ensure that Gameworlds are as stable and viable over long term periods as possible. This is achieved via work to guard against inflation and ensure, via a variety of means, that teams have to work harder to get away from the chasing pack. It is expected that this will enhance the extent to which the game is a long as well as a short term challenge, and help Gameworlds survive many years into the future.

  • Secondly, the update sows the seeds for what is likely to be a flow of features over subsequent updates. The root of a new focus on club customistion is put in place via the addition of fan personas, and excellent, team-specific, club biography pages. Elsewhere, new elements of rolling gameplay have been added, such as the new 'Gameworld Champion' competition, via which any team can be crowned 'King of the Gameworld' simply by beating the current holders. There are more ways to gain recognition within the game and from fellow managers too, with a great set of new awards.

  • Finally, alot of existing features have been polished and enhanced. For instance, the match module now includes a game analysis screen that uses visual information to help you analyse your teams performance (for instance showing the positions at which your players take shots on goal), and also now includes enhanced information on player emotions during matches, allowing you to consider taking off players who are demotivated, or leave on those who may have tired legs but are still really up for the match. Elsewhere, your news screen now has daily news roundups that make sifting through old news much easier, especially if you've not logged in for a few days. Fans of friendly competitions, meanwhile, will be interested to note that there is now a quick play option that allows an entire competition to be completed 'live' on the same day it's created.

All in all, if ever there was an update with something for everyone, it is likely that 1.1 is it. As an update with an unprecedented volume and breadth of changes and additions to the game, it is most certainly something to look enjoy.
