Click on the image below for an expanded look at the new centre of your FML experience. This is your home page. It's the new number one place to look as soon as you log into the GameWorld, and there's a nice new 'Home' icon at the top of your screen to bring you back there at any time. Your home page is constantly updated by the game, so there's always something going on. Indeed, via this page you can:
- Keep all your friends updated about yourself and your team by entering your status.
- Check your 'Pending Items' box for friend requests, new news items, and vote and competition invites.
- Who's signed who, who's won what? Scan the 'Updates' box for news on your friends.
- Share clips from your matches - which goals do YOU want to show off?
- Scroll through a full list of your friends, viewing those ugly mugshots you love to forget.
MAKING FRIENDS
FML is a community game, and one that has given rise to many real life friendships and networks. 1.2 recognises the social abilities of the game by bringing in a new feature that allows you to forge official in-game friendships, much like you would on social networking sites around the globe.
The first time you login to your gameworld after 1.2 you’ll be presented with a series of dialogs and screens that will allow you to upgrade your old style contacts into new style friends. Indeed, anytime during the game you can now initiate a friend request with someone else and also receive requests from your fellow managers.
PRIVATE PARTS
Note that from now on only fellow friends can see your skills. This means extra protection for those in possession of essential skills like Judging Potential. However, it's good to share, and, as on other networking sites, your friends will be kept up to date with your activites.
KEEPING UP APPEARANCES
Friends will know when you are online and who you are playing in a match. When you want to create a competition or even a vote you’ll get the chance to invite some or all of your friends. So it looks like you'll have more matches against your mates to look forward to, and plenty of extra banter when all those you're in touch with see you losing to the worst team in the [Game] World!
STATUS UPDATES
The old style status system is gone and in it’s place is a very familiar ability to let the world how you are feeling, who has annoyed you today, what you ate for breakfast, dinner or lunch and other interesting facts about your life. Write a status via your home page, and it'll appear on those of your friends too.
KEEPING IN TOUCH
If all that wasn’t enough to get you excited the final piece of the jigsaw allows you to post messages of support and love to fellow friends on their pages (in Facebook terms you might call this their wall). They’ll have the option to respond and suitably abuse you and your good nature.
All in all this is a great new feature - now let's see who's first to get all 1000 users as a friend!
