TROUBLESHOOTING

With the arrival of 3D it's without question going to cause some issues running on certain peoples machines. Our system will detect and try to warn you prior to installing the 3D if it thinks there might be an issue but the system isn't 100% perfect and so you may need to try certain things out (below).

Even though 3D has been played by a number of beta testers and tried in our QA lab everyone has a different system, however we will work with you if you do encounter issues. One of the key differences that may cause issues is downloading the 3D add on, when you do this the screen and display will render differently.

If 3D does prove a problem and if the below doesnt help please deselect 3D and restart. As a rule of thumb, if you could play 3D in FM10 on your machine (however choppy) then you should be able to run 3D. FML uses in the region of 600-800mb of memory when 3D is enabled, if you don't have much memory on your machine (1gig and under) you will struggle.

3D works - it's stuttering though

Please go to Preferences -> Caching -> MAtch Cache and make the match cache a much larger value

I can't even get the 3D to work

The key steps if you encounter an issue

1. Update your graphics card - running an old, generic or incorrect driver causes 99% of issues.

2. PC users only - make sure you are running the latest version of DirectX

3. Make sure your computer is running the latest version of your operating system. That means GET THE SERVICE PATCHES / RELEASE

4. If all else fails, please find the thread in the forums where others have issues and post your system specs. The kind of info we want is OS (Windows / Mac), memory, graphics card etc.

How to Update your Graphics Drivers

This depends on your graphics drivers.

Some Computer manufacturers insist you download drivers from their own sites. Please refer to the website of your computer manufacturer before reporting issues with graphics drivers.

To verify your PCs graphics card chipset:

From the Windows desktop:

- Click Start

- Click Run

- Type DXDIAG in the Open field

- Click OK

This will launch the DirectX Diagnostic Tool. Click on the Display and Sound tabs. The upper left box headed ‘Devices’ shows the make and model of card; the right box headed ‘Drivers’ shows the driver version number.

Here are the websites of the largest graphics cards and chipset manufacturers:

Nvidia (Gforce/Legacy) http://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-uk ATI

(Radeon) http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html Intel (Onboard Chipsets)

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/

There are other manufacturers of graphics card drivers. If you can not find drivers for these cards they may have been discontinued. Please ask in this case as we may still be able to help.
